    [Safety Testing] What Happens to an Image? Part 2

    An illustration of the "Modified Submit Button" solution to the image-scanning problem. 

    • Image will be uploaded or pasted and appear to the user as desired in the WYSIWYG editor.
    • On Submit, content would be edited to replace any `<img src=".."/>` tags with a known "Your image is being scanned" replacement image URI.
    • After the Post/Comment is created, a Custom Object is created with the Post Id, Comment Id, URIs, etc. 
    • ZIS and/or EventBridge is required to invoke a callback to Safety Service. Authentication may include ZIS OAuth Config. 
    • Images are only deleted when the Post/Comment that 'owns' the initial image upload is deleted. Posts/Comments can be added on behalf of other users.

      Adding this comment (A) with an image (I) that will be referenced in another comment (B), after which (B) will be deleted.

      • This is supposed to result in the Image being deleted.
      • This should result in Comment (A) having a broken image.

      This is the raw JSON of Comment (B), that was added with an image from Comment (A), and then was deleted via the API. 

      • The Comment Body contained the same image URL as the previous Comment (A). 
      • Even after deleting Comment (B), the image remains available at the URL from Comment (A)

      The image still visible, after Comment (B) was deleted. It was only referenced here, not uploaded in Comment (B).

      Screenshot of Comment (D) AFTER Comment (C) was deleted. 

      • The previously-uploaded image is now broken as-expected. 
      • Discovery: User-Uploaded Images are deleted only when the Post/Comment to which they were initially attached is Deleted.

      I attempted to add a Comment with a Public Image URL (not hosted on this Zendesk Subdomain), and received the following Error Toast: 

      • The Image URL: https://techcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/fail-whale.png
      • Toast: 
      • However, the Comment Editor had already been cleared and no Comment was actually submitted.
      • This appears to be a bug in the Editor, but ultimately it did not allow the comment to be added with a public URL, so this is a good thing.
