Meet the Prismar! The Prismar is a fish-like mob to be included in an effort to make minecraft's ocean feel a little more strange while also improving upon the player experience. The proposed mob has a spawn rate that is comparable to that of the enderman on land, making it uncommon to encounter in any deep ocean biome where salmon spawn. Similiar in appearance to its dreaded cousin the guardian mob other than its streamlined body structure, pectoral and dorsal fins, and lack of spikes, the three block long opposing beast is truly a startling sight to behold, but don't be alarmed, for now. The prismar is normally docile to almost every other entity unless provoked, but has two plate sized eyes for one particular prey: the salmon. This agile predator can be observed chasing down salmon and entrapping them in its four powerful mandibles, and with its prize in its jaws the prismar descends into the deeper depths to consume its meal somewhere else, similarly to the fox. Although the prismar has a very specific taste in prey it would never pass on a free meal, so they would appear more frequently around ocean monuments where they happily clean away the remains of unlucky victims of the guardians' antics. The prismar would scavage any item that is classed as food (except rotten flesh) to carry away to where they feel safe to enjoy their lunch. It also comes with it's own hunger system. Upon consuming whatever is in their grasp, the prismar would receive a saturation effect, ending its quest for food for two or so minutes, after which, the prismar goes back to hunting or scavenging to continue the cycle. When it or a nearby guardian is attacked, the prismar would retaliate by striking the aggressor one to three times before fleeing. After each strike the prismar bolts away to distance itself before making an u-turn to charge into its foe once again for another strike. The prismar may not be as advanced as its rounder relatives, but it still has the intelligence to (kind of) trade with the player. If offered salmon, the prismar would dive down to the ocean floor to dig for something to give in return. Once it's finished it would toss a random item to the player's direction ranging from flint or coral to coal, nuggets, bamboo or sometimes nautilus shells. It has been established that the prismar is usually just a friendly fish monster that loves snacks, but if salmon, their primary food source, has diminished, then things would make the turn for the worse. If a hungry prismar fails to find 111111 anything to eat by sometime after the saturation effect expires depending on difficulty, it will enter rage mode. An enraged prismar would change its texture to look more ominous and let out a bone chilling roar. Both of these small details signify that it is about to ruin everyone's day. The rampaging beast would show no mercy as it violently strikes at hapless prey, leaving only smaller fish and those deciding to stay on land safe from the mayhem. If one takes note of your presence, there may not be any escape, unless you can make do with the following two options. A pacifist approach would be to sacrifice any food item by tossing it out from your inventory. This would in turn calm the enraged prismar back to it's normal phase, leaving you alone to live another day. If the pacifist tactic is somehow not achievable, then your last resort would be to fight it, and it wouldn't be easy! When defeated, the prismar would drop prismarine shards and has a small chance of also dropping one of its mandibles. There is another way around trying to kill the prismar to obtain its prized mandibles. All you need is a fishing rod. When you come across a prismar, simply cast your line, and if your lucky the prismar lurking below would find the bobber appealing and bite onto it, breaking off tiny pieces off its mandibles for you to collect. The fragments can be crafted into mandibles and maybe the mandibles can be used to craft and brand new throwing tool/weapon used to drag enemies attacking by range to within five blocks before its user, but with added charge up and cool down for PvP reasons.
